8 Reasons to Ski Now

There is no one reason that’s better than the other, but one thing is for sure: you need to book your ski and stay package now. Here are the top eight reasons why:

1. Save. Save. Save.

Let’s start with the deals. With a little bit of planning, there is always an opportunity to save on tickets, lodging or both. Purchasing your tickets only can save you up to 33% or feel free to check out the Snow Bus, which includes a bus ride from the Boston area and a ticket (usually cheaper than the ticket window price).

Planning on a vacation lasting more than a day? Then we have some deals you just won’t want to pass up starting with $100 off for Presidents’ Week if booked by February 2.  For New Hampshire vacation week, the deal gets even sweeter. Single-night packages start at $89 but if you book two nights, you’ll save $75. If you book three nights, you’ll save $100. That means you could snag a ski package for as little as $56 per night (plus taxes and fees). Um, yeah. Even my broke sister in college can afford that.

2. More skiable acreage than anywhere else in the East.

Super Bowl Sunday was a good day. Not only did we watch our very own Frozen Rush air on TV for the first time, we got to ski in fresh snow all day long. But wait! It gets better… On Monday morning, Patrol dropped the ropes on more than 100 acres, bringing the total up to 679 on 115 trails, making Sunday River home of the most open terrain in the East, spanning across all eight peaks. How’s that for elbow room?

3. Even more snow on the way.

There is no such thing as a snow storm with too little or too much snow. Any flakes that fall and we’re in our Happy Place. This week, we’re extra, extra happy with Wednesday looking like up to a foot of new snow is possible. But that’s not all—Storm number three of the week is heading this way with an anticipated arrival of Sunday. And it’s supposed to be even bigger than Wednesday. Oh, yeahhhh.

4. The snowiest months of the year.

Historically, February and March are the snowiest months of the year. Over the last five seasons, snow totals for February and March accounted for more than 40% of the total snowfall for the year. That just means the best has yet to come (and that’s hard to believe).

5. Staying is just as fun as skiing.

No joke. From the American Pride Party to Video Games Event, there is something going on for anyone, any age, any interest. Try the Family Peak Dinner where the whole family is welcomed to experience a magical night at the Peak Lodge. (Plus I heard a rumor Eddy will be there). Or hear the “Oooh’s” and “Aahh’s” in Sliders at the Jordan Hotel while the groomers cruise through just feet from your dining table. There is music, family entertainment, après parties, and new menus to taste. Whatever you do, don’t forget a bathing suit.

6. Little ones ski for free.

Not only do kids 5 & under ski for free all the time, the Sundance Surface Lift is available to beginner skiers and riders of all ages for free! All you have to do is pick up your free lift ticket at any window and enjoy the day on the slopes for as long (or as little) as you want.

7. No terrain park compares.

With the all-new 15-acre terrain park trail open this season, T72 (and the adjacent park on lower 3D) is a park kid’s paradise. Designed with the progression of skiers and riders in mind, the features include a large multi-jump line, an expansive Jib Yard, and a Superpipe on T72 with a smaller jump line and intermediate boxes/rails on 3D.

8. Become instafamous.
