2017 Best of Bethel Awards Results

That’s it. That’s all she wrote folks. The votes you cast have been tallied, and this downtown showdown is complete for 2017. We at Team Snow would like to thank you for your submissions, whether you voted for “the hot girl at the Goggle,” for best waitress or “my condo,” for best cheap eats.  Your wit, sarcasm, and enthusiasm are appreciated. And now, for the moment we’ve all been waiting for:

Best Breakfast – Sunday River Brewing Company

A brewery that also serves up a killer breakfast spread? “Sign us up,” said a majority of this year’s voters. This is the first time the Sunday River Brewing Company has won this particular category, and it’s definitely due in part to their delicious donut offerings, but also for the Savage Hash.

Ummmm 🍩❤️

Best Cup o’ Joe – DiCocoa’s Market and Bakery

Once again, no local java joint has been able to unseat DiCocoa’s in the Best Cup o’ Joe category. Like ever. Pair a delectably fresh brew with homemade baked goods and other prepared foods, and you’re in for quite the treat.

Best Lunch Spot – Sliders

We’re not sure if it’s the amazing selection of cocktails (hello, pickle martini), the wings and burgers, or the deck with gorgeous views of Jordan Bowl, but Sliders takes the top spot for our voters’ lunch needs.

Spring has sprung, and I moderately enjoy it 🍺 #happyplacefound #sundayriver

Best Bartender – Lisa Deherrera
Best Waitress – Erin Bernard

Is it the great pour or the great smile that won this category for Lisa Deherrera at the Millbrook Tavern at the Bethel Inn Resort? It’s a toss-up, but thanks for your great service, Lisa! And it seems as though Millbrook Tavern is known for awesome service, as this year’s Best Waitress, Erin Bernard, also works there! All of your hard work is very much appreciated.

Best Local Shop – Nabos

Nabos is not only a staple in downtown Bethel, it’s a Best of Bethel stalwart in this category! This quirky shop, run by Amanda Moran, offers unique home décor, clothing, jewelry, games, toys, and more. If you haven’t stopped into this gas-station-turned-boutique, you’re missing out. What’s more, Nabos participates in Edible Bethel, which offers fresh produce to passersby in the summer months.

Best First Run of the Day – Right Stuff

The only way to get first tracks on Right Stuff is to stand in line for first chair with Sunday River’s die-hard loyalists. Only then can you really take in the pitch and perfect corduroy that Right Stuff has to offer.

No really. It's glorious today. #happyplacefound

Best Spring Deck Scene – Barker Bar

When you’re open until May 1 on Barker Mountain, of course Barker Bar is going to be the best place to get your goggle tan on and enjoy a frosty beverage in the sunshine between springy laps in the corn snow.

Best New Kid on the Block – Bluebird and Brian’s

This season, we’ve had an influx of new restaurants and bars in the Bethel and Newry region, and while many of the new eats in town got love from our voters, Bluebird and Brian’s split the popular vote! Bluebird, located in the former Sunday River Inn, has an awesome vibe with an internationally-inspired menu. Brian’s which recently made the move from Rumford, offers Italian and Mediterranean food and a romantic atmosphere.
